catch you breath before you collapse

I was writing a huge entry to try and work things through in my head.....and it suddenly worked. Things seemed to become a lot clearer.

Sorry for erasing what I had, but it became kind of irrelevant. I will update you more in a big way soon, promise xx

By the way, go and flick through some of the journals at blogger.com, or any of the other sites that run blogs/journals/whatever you call them. Reading other peoples thoughts, hopes and fears is amazing and we are privileged to be able to communicate in such an instant way.

we are beautiful and bold

I'm having real difficulty summing up the enthusiasm to even pretend to care today. the fact that I have enough time to update this journal today tells me that I am not where I want to be at this exact moment....but as I promised I am taking steps to get there....they are gonna be bigger steps that i've ever taken I think.

Just working on some lyrics at the moment and for once the words are falling into place, i think being frustrated suits that part of my mind, as does being hurt and miserable...why does it work like that?? There are far more song about pain and frustration than being all happy and joyous - simply because if you're happy, who the hell wants to sit around writing songs about it and try and work through it, you want to be doing whatever the hell made you so happy in the first place. The three songs in front of me now are either frustrated, painful or packed with adrenaline....a heady combination.

Down corridors.....through automatic doors....

Does anybody else have a crush on Ashlee Simpson or is it just me?

Why do I spend my entire life planning things rather than doing them? I plan to change that this year....call it a late new years resolution or whatever.

Sound On Sound

Cool show last night, had a good time on stage and off. We worked with sound guys that we knew and it makes so much difference when there is someone good doing your sound.
I sometimes forget that people who don't play in bands often don't realise that there is a world of difference between the sound coming out of the big speakers in front of the stage and what the band can actually hear....it can get tough on stage when you can't hear very well (that might sound odd with the huge speakers that bands always have, but sometimes the noise of one instrument just obliterates the others on stage and you have to work really hard to work out what the hell is going on). Anyway, thanks to Mark and everyone he works with for always doing a good job for us - we do appreciate it. In fact I appreciate every good sound guy I have ever worked with - they are a godsend.

Back to more normal things - it's not 100% confirmed yet, but odds are we will be back down south in a few weeks with [spunge] which will be cool, they are nice guys and looked after us really well last time we met up with them, we also know the promoter from last summer and he looked after us well too :o) All good....just gotta get it 100% confirmed.

Met up with some guys who run a management company the other day. They came to watch us at a local show. Not sure if anything will happen - they seemed to have their hands full with some other acts, but we are currently looking for help with the booking side of things - there is only so much the three of us can do. I'll keep you posted if anything happens with that.

Hey - how normal is this entry?? Weird, huh? For once my mind isn't racing too hard and i'm just winding down at the end of the week. Think i'm gonna have an easy weekend of it, just take it easy and hang out. Hope you get a chance to do the same.

Still Smiling...

Ok, things are pretty cool at the moment other than the fact that I am working away from home a bit more which means if I owe you an email or anything, it might be a little later than normal. Nothing too major though.

Fully back on track after Christmas and New Years, my life seems to alter completely for a couple of weeks and then slowly everything gets back into a routine (I'm not the biggest fan of routine but with work and everything I don't really have much choice.)

New songs are the current subject of conversation at the moment (along with you, of course). We have a few ideas that we are kicking around...from some really poppy riffs to some different rhythms. Nothing concrete.

I gotta go and try and catch up with myself. I don't think it's gonna happen, but I like to try.

By the way, I know at least one of you only reads the words I write to see if I mention your name. Well....you pretend to sleep, i'll pretend to care and we'll just call it even, ok?

Back Up And Running...

Ok, first things first... my heart goes out to everyone affected in the recent events in Asia, there are some pretty horrific pictures coming back on the news and the only good thing about it is seeing the rest of the world trying their best to help out the people there. Also, RIP to Dimebag Darrell, the guitarist for Damageplan who was shot and killed just before Christmas by a fan of his previous band, Pantera. I don't claim to know much about either band, but his death and those of the people who worked with his band in the same incident were tragic and needless. RIP.

On to more positive things as it's the beginning of a new year. I have spent the last couple of weeks celebrating. My friends all came home from university, we had Christmas, then my sisters birthday, then new years and then my birthday. I think my headache has just about cleared up. In amongst all of that are some cool stories that I don't have time to tell right now, but one of the best things to happen to me for a while happened recently and if you see me around i'll be smiling about it.

Band stuff: I am catching up on my emails today and trying to get everything in order. New songs start today and concrete plans are being laid for April/May so you'll be getting some cool stuff through on the site shortly after that. I am booking shows when I can finally work my way through the list of stuff that built up over the holidays, get in touch if you can help out.

I gotta go or i'll be late,

Max x
